Quattro Pro Converter is designed with privacy as a core principle. Unlike cloud-based converters, our software processes every Quattro Pro workbook locally on your computer. Your .qpw, .wq1, .wq2, .wb1, .wb2, .wb1, .wb2, and .wb3 files never leave your machine, and we never have access to your spreadsheet contents.

Information We Collect

Desktop Application

The Quattro Pro Converter desktop application:

  • Does NOT collect any personal information
  • Does NOT transmit your spreadsheets or their contents to any server
  • Does NOT track your usage or behavior
  • Does NOT require an internet connection to convert files
  • Processes every workbook entirely on your local Windows computer
  • Writes a local conversion log so you have an audit artifact you control

Website

When you visit our website, we may collect:

  • Standard web server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited)
  • Anonymous analytics for download events, page visits, and roadmap votes
  • Information you voluntarily provide when contacting us or submitting feedback
  • Payment information processed securely through Stripe (we do not store credit card details)

License Activation

When you purchase and activate a license, we store:

  • Your email address (for license delivery and support)
  • License key information
  • Purchase date and transaction ID

This information is used solely for license management, customer support, and fulfilling your purchase. We do not use it for marketing without your consent.

How We Use Your Information

We use the limited information we collect to:

  • Deliver your license key after purchase
  • Provide customer support and answer migration questions
  • Send important product updates (you can opt out at any time)
  • Improve the website, the converter, and the public roadmap

Data Security

We implement appropriate security measures to protect the limited information we hold. Payment processing is handled by Stripe, a PCI-compliant payment processor, and we never store your credit card information on our servers. License keys are validated using cryptographic signatures so the desktop product can verify them offline without any network call.

Why Local-First Conversion Matters

Legacy Quattro Pro archives often contain regulated or commercially sensitive material: payroll runs, customer pricing books, actuarial tables, plant cost models, rate-case workpapers, and back-office ledgers. Uploading those workbooks to a free online converter creates problems that go well beyond inconvenience:

  • Loss of control over data residency, retention, and deletion
  • Exposure under SOX, GLBA, HIPAA, GDPR, or contractual confidentiality clauses
  • No audit trail you can hand to internal audit, security, or counsel
  • Vendor reviews and DPIAs that you didn't plan for

Quattro Pro Converter avoids all of this by keeping conversion on your machine. The product is designed to be safe to point at a directory of regulated workbooks without first vetting a cloud vendor.

Recommended Customer Controls

For higher-assurance environments, we recommend the following operational practices regardless of which conversion tool you use:

  • Work from a copy of the source archive — never modify the original
  • Write converted output to a separate destination folder for sign-off
  • Retain conversion logs alongside records-retention metadata
  • Spot-check converted files by department, year, and extension family
  • Run on a workstation that already meets your data-classification policy

We use the following third-party services for this website and license fulfillment:

  • Vercel — Website hosting
  • Neon — Database hosting for analytics, feedback, and the public roadmap

Each of these services has its own privacy policy governing its use of data. Note that none of these services receive your spreadsheet files — they only support the website and license workflow.
